James McFadden (born April 14 , 1983 ) is a Football Player ( Striker ) currently playing for Everton F.C. .

He was born in Glasgow and joined the Motherwell youth setup at a young age, making his first team debut when he was just 17 years old.

He shot to fame during the 2002-2003 SPL season, scoring 19 goals from 34 starts and winning the Scottish Young Player Of The Year Award . He also received some criticism for his lack of discipline, picking up 15 yellow cards and 1 red during 2002-2003.

He gained his first Scotland cap at the age of 19 on a Far East Tour against South Africa .

His performances grabbed the attention of Scotland manager Berti Vogts and he became a regular in the Scotland set up scoring his first goal against The Faroe Islands in a Euro 2004 qualifying match on September 6 , 2003 in a 3-1 win at Hampden Park .

Everton won the battle to sign the talented Striker from Motherwell . Boss David Moyes spotted the potential and completed the £1.25M signing.

On the 1st of January 2005 McFadden Scored his debut goal for Everton during their 5-2 defeat at Tottenham , after more than a year at the club. One week later he scored his second goal in a third round FA cup tie against Plymouth .

During the 2005-06 Season , McFadden has been in and out of the Everton team as they struggled to re-capture the form of the previous season. On 11 March 2006 he scored one of the best goals of his career to help Everton to a 3-1 victory over Fulham .

James continued the impressive run of form just a week later against Aston Villa, scoring a well placed half volley from just outside the area, helping the Toffees to ease through 4-1 on 18 March 2006. Throughout the 2006 calender year McFadden has been steadily improving, and his tally for the season is now seven with one game remaining - including memorable goals against Manchester United, Chelsea, Fulham, Aston Villa and Middlesbrough, and it appears he is finally beginning to find his feet in English football, good for both himself and Everton.
