He failed to win a seat in the 1970 Quebec Provincial Election , but did win a seat in the 1973 Election . After the latter election the '' Parti Québécois '' became the official Opposition since the former opposition party ('' Union Nationale '') failed to win any seats. Since party leader René Lévesque had not won a seat in the 1973 election, Morin became leader of the Opposition in the National Assembly until the 1976 Election , which the PQ won. He held various ministerial posts in the Lévesque government until he resigned from politics in 1984 . During his tenure as Minister of Education he was responsible for many reforms, and was known for his culture and good, "old school" manners. In 2001, he was made a Grand Officer of the National Order Of Quebec . SEE ALSO
