When she was a teenager, she started working with the Dundee -based publishing company DC Thomson on a new girls magazine '' Jackie '', which was named after her.

Over 20 million copies of Wilson's books have been sold in the UK alone. In a poll conducted by the '', ''Vicky Angel'', and '' The Story Of Tracy Beaker ''. In 2004 she replaced Catherine Cookson as the most borrowed author in Britain's libraries, a position she retained the following year. {Link without Title}

''Girls in Love'' and ''The Story of Tracy Beaker'' have been adapted as TV serials.

In June 2002 Jacqueline Wilson was given an OBE for services to literacy in schools, and in May 2005 she was announced as the Children's Laureate .
