It is explained in that the family of the Titan Xerxes originally ruled the planet. When Tlaloc conquered the Old Empire, Xerxes took the power on the planet. Xerxes then renamed the planet from ''Rodale IX'' to just ''Ix''. After the fall of the Titans, Ix became one of the Synchronized Worlds , that was finally liberated by the Army of the Jihad in 175 B.G. House Vernius of Ix is a major player in all the prequels. However, ''Dune Messiah'' refers to the Ixian Confederacy, indicating no noble House ruled the planet. Many fans are angry that Brian Herbert overlooked this key fact in his prequels. However, it is possible that he may explain this discrepancy in the future. Ix is a beautiful planet with very Earth-like qualities. There is no development on the surface of Ix and practically no one goes above ground. The developed part of Ix is subterranean, mainly consisting of labs and factories. The Ixians were responsible for the creation of Hwi Noree and thus contributed to the fall of Leto Atreides II , the God Emperor. |
