Information About

Italian Riviera

The Italian Riviera is a part of the coast shared between France and Italy , on the Ligurian Sea , or the Italian coast on the Mediterranean Sea .

The Italian Riviera is the sea coast on the west and the east of Genoa , known as Liguria , extending from France to Tuscany . In Italian , the term "Riviera" includes the Riviera di Levante, from Genoa toward Tuscany , and the Riviera di Ponente, from Genoa to France . The Riviera di Ponente ends at Ventimiglia , a former Customs post for traffic with France.

It is famous for its particularly mild climate, which rendered it a well-known and frequented Tourist destination even in winter.

Many villages and towns in the area are internationally known, such as Portofino , Bordighera , Lerici , and the Cinque Terre .

A part of the Riviera di Ponente, centered in San Remo , is called "Riviera dei Fiori", due to the characteristic production of Flower s.
