The Island of Time is the setting of the '', a mythical island home to the Empress Of Time and her servant, Shahdee . Located in an unknown part of the ocean, the Island is essentially a near-barren rock upon which houses the Empress' castle, a massive building composed of two enormous towers separated by a central hub containing the throne room. Among the castle's endless corridors hides many wonderous things, including a complex network of sand-time portals that allow one to pass between the era the Empress lives in and the present day. In the present, however, the castle appears abandoned and in far worse disrepair than it was when the Empress inhabited it. That isn't to say that it isn't still under the Empress' rule, as both the time portals and the various death traps littered around the castle corridors are still functional, and her army of sand creatures still patrol its grounds. In the game, it is this differential between the present and the past Island of Time that a player must navigate through and utilize, only able to gain passage through a certain part of the Island in one time frame that they would otherwise be blocked from doing in the other. |
