Information About

Irdeto

Irdeto provides solutions for digital content protection in digital TV, IPTV and mobile environments. The company's support, sales and R&D offices are located worldwide with corporate headquarters near Amsterdam, the Netherlands. Irdeto offers both hardware- and software-based solutions. The company works industry partners to create end-to-end solutions for any pay-media business.

Irdeto has more than 200 customers in 40 countries, and provides both smart card- and software-based conditional access systems for pay TV, supporting cable, satellite, terrestrial, MMDS and IPTV operators. In addition, the company offers chip- and software-based solutions for mobile media and TV based on the following standards: DMB-S, DMB-T, DVB-H, OMA 1, OMA 2.

Irdeto is a wholly-owned subsidiary of multinational media group Naspers (NASDAQ: NPSN and JSE: NPN). The Naspers family (FY2004-05 revenue approximately US$2.25B) includes a group of pay TV sister companies in Africa, Europe and Asia. As a primary supplier to these companies since the beginnings of digital TV more than a decade ago, Irdeto plays a vital role within the group. Nevertheless, more than 75% of Irdeto's revenue comes from companies outside the group following Irdeto's successful transition to a global, market-driven company in the 1990's. In recent years, Naspers has made a significant additional investment in Irdeto in order to enable the expansion of the company into the IPTV and mobile markets, showing the shareholder's long-term commitment to the company.
