The International Fleet Review took place on 28 June 2005 , as part of Trafalgar 200 , the celebrations to commemorate the 200th anniversary of the Battle Of Trafalgar in 1805 .
The Review took place on the Solent , between Portsmouth and the Isle Of Wight , in England . The Fleet Review is a 600 year old British tradition, and this Review was one of the only ones to feature a large number of Foreign warships.
167 naval and merchant ships attended the review, including 56 British warships.
The Review was conducted by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on board the Royal Navy Antarctic Patrol Vessel HMS ''Endurance'' . Huge crowds gathered along Southsea Common and Gosport Sea Front, to witness the largest gathering of naval vessels in the Solent since the Queen's Silver Jubilee Fleet Review in 1977 . At the end of the days festivities, centred around the review, a massive firework display was held as a 'reconstruction' of the Battle of Trafalgar (with Grand Turk standing in for HMS Victory ), now known to be the largest firework display in recorded history.
