A Yerevan (Armenia) based all-female, four-piece rock band. Formed in the year 2000 (not active since 2004). Members were: Dzomak, Guitar. (Painter, artist by profession) Nara, Bass. (Journalist by profession) Nata, Vocals. Armine, Drums. (Student of Architecture) Armine was not the original drummer, they changed several drummers during the early days, but Armine played for more than three years. They had more than 20 concerts in Yerevan clubs and venues since they formed. They also played some (nearly 4 or 5) local festivals, and played in a festival held in Tbilisi, Georgia. During last few years they have been an active participant of Armenian avant-garde art scene. They were special guests in Gyumri international biennale in the year 2000. Each of their concerts were kind of art performance also. The dressing and look during the concerts were another way to express their thoughts. They also worked with avant-garde musician (and musicologist) Eva Khachatrian . There’s even a track in their demo album, cooperated with her. They have recorded a non-professional demo album. The songs in album are played live in studio. They never signe to any record company, but the Armenian Center for Contemporary Experimental Art (ACCEA) was supporting the band, giving them room to practice and facilities to record the songs. Song writing skills! Most of Incest songs don’t follow the traditional song structure, verse-chorus-verse, and rarely they using rhyme! But there are some elements that made them interesting. Use of Armenian slang and local details… The main theme of their songs are the political and social life of Armenian society. This young people lived as ignored as you can get... and it was because of their life style and beliefs. Some of their lyrics are coming directly from their own lives. Almost all of the lyrics are written by Sona Abgarian, invisible member of incest. She’s a well known video and installation artist in Armenia. But recently band members started to write songs on their own lyrics. Thir music is generally considered as Punk Rock, but they claim that they don't follow any musical style. Management Under the support of ACCEA Incest began to record their demo album. Since that time the head of the rock music department at ACCEA , Sevada Petrossian acted as their Manager and produced their demo recording and later their studio singles.
