  • In Music Theory , and specifically, Piano theory, Impetus can mean double dotting a Dotted Note ; for example if one double dots a Crotchet , then instead of playing a Quaver one plays a Semiquaver which gives the music movement with sudden kick. Double dotting a note is usually also accompanied by getting louder with a crescendo.
