The city is between the western edge of the desert wasteland, the Hadarac Desert and the eastern edge of the Ramr River. This city is also the capital of most of Alagaësia . It is nearly impossible to penetrate, except when Jeod and Brom found a way to get in secretly to steal the last three known Dragon eggs. Brom and Jeod sent someone from the Varden to steal the eggs. But, for some unknown reason he only managed to steal one of those eggs, which ended up being the egg Eragon found in the Spine, which Saphira hatched from. Morzan, the most powerful of the Forsworn, lived in Urû baen and had two sons, Murtagh and Eragon . While their mother managed to hide Eragon with her brother, Murtagh grew up in Morzan's castle under his abusive father, and when Morzan died he was moved to the king's palace. Now Urû baen is home to two immensely powerful Riders, Galbatorix and Murtagh, for whom a dragon hatched. Now Eragon will end up facing the biggest challenge of his life in this city. That challenge will be to destroy Galbatorix, who is very powerful, and so free Murtagh and Murtagh's dragon from the oat Urû baen.
