The river Ibaizabal drains south-eastern Biscay to the Estuary Of Bilbao . It passes by the towns of Durango and Amorebieta and joins the Nervion or Nerbioi river at Basauri . Both rivers run then together for a short length until they merge with the sea at Bilbao. It's disputed which river is the one that actually reaches Bilbao. Traditionally it's been commonplace that it was the Nervion but actually some argue that the Ibaizabal is longer and carries more water. Ibaizabal means ''wide river'' in Basque Language . |
