Students hail from Delaware Township (233 students), East Amwell Township (221 students), Flemington Borough (177 students), Raritan Township (1,355 students) and Readington Township (823 students). BOARD OF EDUCATION The Hunterdon Central Regional Board of Education is comprised of nine members elected by constituents in the five municipalities whose students attend Hunterdon Central Regional High School. Three members are elected from both Raritan and Readington Townships, and one each from Delaware Township, East Amwell Township and the Borough of Flemington. SCHOOL The high school is one of the largest, campus-style high schools in New Jersey, occupying a 72-acre campus and includes four general classroom buildings, a music building, a 2,000 seat fieldhouse, and an Instructional Media Center, along with a television and radio studio. Since May of 2005 the school has been undergoing massive renovations to help to cope with the increase in students over the years. The auditorium, music building and library (IMC) are also undergoing additions. The student enrollment at Hunterdon Central is approximately 2,940 for the 2005-2006 academic year. Average class size is 19.8, student to faculty ratio is 11 to 1, and student to computer ratio is 2.3 to 1. The school’s rigorous and comprehensive academic program is further enhanced by a co-curricular program that includes 33 interscholastic athletic teams, including baseball, boys’ and girls’ basketball, boys’ and girls’ bowling, cheerleading, boys’ and girls’ cross country, boys’ and girls’ fencing, field hockey, football, boys’ and girls’ golf, gymnastics, boys’ and girls’ lacrosse, ice hockey, boys’ and girls’ soccer, softball, boys’ and girls’ swimming, boys’ and girls’ tennis, boys’ and girls’ track and winter track, boys’ and girls’ volleyball, and wrestling. Hunterdon Central Regional High School offers over 90 activities, including dramatics, student government, publications, service organizations, clubs, an award-winning marching band and award-winning orchestra, an AFJROTC program, and choral programs with award-winning choirs. In 2002, Hunterdon Central became the only New Jersey school to be awarded the status of Blue Ribbon School by the United States Department Of Education for the second time, the first being in 1997. This honor, the highest national recognition a school can achieve, is awarded for excellence in instructional delivery and educational environment. The school was also the first in the State of New Jersey to be designated as a Star High School by the New Jersey Department Of Education . STAFF Hunterdon Central has a student/faculty ratio of 11 to 1. Approximately 57.6% of the staff hold advanced degrees (M.A., Ph. D. or Ed.D.). In the classroom, teachers incorporate technology and instructional strategies that develop critical thinking skills, as well as content knowledge. The District offers a staff training program that has achieved state and national recognition from The National Center for Public Productivity at Rutgers University , The New Jersey Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development and the United States Department Of Education Professional Development National Awards.
