Born in Carmarthen , in Wales 8 February 1847

Educated at University College London and the Wesleyan Theological College at Richmond

Founded the Methodist Times in 1885

Appointed Superintende of the West London Mission in 1887

Elected first president of the National Free Church Council in 1896

Died in London on 17 November 1902
