BACKGROUND In the prequels written by Brian Herbert , House Richese is exploited and used by House Harkonnen , but nevertheless appears as a benevolent house. The ruler of the house, Count Ilban Richese is a peaceloving man, who incidently is the maternal grandfather of Duke Leto Atreides . This house is an important manufacturer of complex technological goods, and Ix's primary competitor. About 10,000 AG (After Guild ), Richese began to fall behind their competitors, the Ixians, and were forced to produce only cheap, low-quality versions of designs from Ix or the rest of the Imperium. Richesians were famous for Richesian mirrors. The Richesians were said to be Harkonnen allies, and much of their key infrastructure was destroyed by an attack by Emperor Shaddam Corrino IV on their stockpiles of Spice . |
