Information About

Hong Kong Front

The Hong Konger Front (我是香港人連線) is an alliance composed of pro-independence websites in Hong Kong . It proposes a Hong Kong Independence Movement to make Hong Kong a sovereign state (全民公投香港獨立). It is led by Chong Sik-yu and others.

The Hong Konger Front argues that Hong Kong should hold a Referendum to decide whether Hong Kong should be independent. It has also claimed that the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government now is currently a puppet regime of China , as Hong Kong has become a Chinese Colony .

The Hong Konger Front has proposed some versions of the "national flag" of a future "Republic of Hong Kong", and one of the suggested versions includes a British flag on the grounds that the future 'Republic of Hong Kong' should join the Commonwealth ; This suggestion was criticized by mainland China's newspapers.

The Hong Konger Front predicts that Hong Kong needs 20 years to become independent from the Beijing regime — perhaps more or less if China is involved in a war during that time.

On November 15, 2004 the pro-Beijing DAB vice-chairman Ip Kwok-him said that what the Hong Konger Front advocates is illegal, In response, a high-ranking HKSAR government official in charge of political affairs stressed that Hong Kongers should enjoy freedom of speech, though he also said that Hong Kongers do not want independence but believe that Hong Kong is an integral part of China.

Ordinary Hong Kong citizens think the web is in reply to the "Referendum is equal to Hong Kong Independence Theory". Concrete actions such as armed force recruitment like Dr. Sun Yat-sen or the development of a non-cooperation movement like Ghandi 's do not exist in Hong Kong.
