Hong Kong Film Awards





The Board of Directors holds monthly executive meetings to make a decision on policy-wise matters, which will be carried out by the secretariat. The Secretariat is responsible for the association's external and internal supervision and management, while also organizes four sub-committees to hold customary meetings and the implementation of related matters. The sub-committees will yearly invite professional filmmakers from different fields to chip in. The authority aims at formulate a fair adjudication system and make the award be recognized in the film industry.

Hong Kong Film Awards Association is a Non-profit corporation. The operating revenues of the Award are obtained from the sale of rights to telecast the annual Presentation Ceremony.


SUB-COMMITTEES

  • Contract & Distribution Committee: to liaise with local and overseas television stations and negotiating the broadcast rights of the Presentation Ceremony.

  • Production Committee: professional filmmakers will be invited to join the committee annually to act as Executive Producer and Creative Team Members. The Production Committee decides on the main theme, direction and all production matters of the Presentation Ceremony.

  • Voting Affairs Committee: representatives from different film associations will join the committee in order to review and revise the election rules of the film awards and authenticates the validity of voters.

  • Promotion and Marketing Committee: prepares promotion plan and liaise with sponsors.

WINNERS, BEST MOVIE AWARD




THE BEST 100 CHINESE MOTION PICTURES

To celebrate one hundred years of Chinese cinema, Hong Kong Film Awards released a list of The Best 100 Chinese Motion Pictures. Any movie made in a Chinese Language is eligible. 1948's black and white classic ''Springtime in a Small Town'' by director Fei Mu is rank No. 1 on the list. Among 103 films on the list, there are 11 films from China (pre-1949), 13 films from the mainland China (post-1949), 61 films from Hong Kong (no surprise, since the list was prepare by Hong Kong filmmakers), 16 film from Taiwan (post-1949), 1 Hong Kong and mainland China co-production and 1 Taiwan and Hong Kong co-production.
