The Holy Trinity is a term for a group of three Shortstops in the 1990's and 2000's. They include Nomar Garciaparra , Derek Jeter , and Alex Rodriguez . As of the 2006 season, only Jeter was left playing shortstop (for the New York Yankees ). Rodriguez currently plays Third Base , also for the Yankees, while Garciappara is playing First Base for the Los Angeles Dodgers . JETER Derek Jeter is currently Captain of the New York Yankee's ballclub, and since winning Rookie Of The Year in 1996 has continued to put up impressive offensive numbers, while still being known for his defensive play. He has also shown leadership and charisma in such incidents as leaping into the stands after fly balls. He will be a certain first ballot Hall - of - Famer when he retires. RODRIGUEZ Alex Rodriguez , or A-Rod, as he is better known, was originally signed by the Seattle Mariners baseball team, but was soon signed to a 10-year, $252 million dollar contract by the Texas Ranger's team, and soon after he had won two Gold Gloves as well as an MVP award. He was soon traded, however, to the Yankees, where he was shifted to Third Base . He has flourished in New York - winning yet another MVP award as well as hitting his 400th career Home Run . GARCIAPARRA Nomar Garciaparra (originally called Ramon - which is Nomar spelled backwards) was originally part of the Boston Red Sox club, where he flourished, winning several Batting Titles . However, in the summer of 2004, he was traded to the Chicago Cubs , where he did not do as well. He was left unsigned by the Cubs after the 2005 season until he was signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers to play First Base . |
