Hilti is a company that manufactures and sells Power Tool s, primarily directly to the end professional customer. The company is based in Liechtenstein and is the country's largest employer. They have more than 16,000 Employee s worldwide with 2,000 employees in the United States. Hilti is particularly known in the United States for its range of direct fixing systems, coloquially known as "Hilti guns" or Nail Gun s. These are powerful, powder-actuated nailing sytems capable of fastening to Steel , Concrete and similar substrates. Recently, gas-powered variants have been produced. A wide variety of high-end power tools are also produced. They incorporate great robustness and other more subtle features such as an electronic RF system that utilizes a small Transponder carried by the owner/operator. When anyone not carrying the transponder tries to use the tool, it will not operate. As well as a significant safety innovation for heavyweight power tools, it provides a very useful anti-theft feature, as the transponders are keyed to individual tools and thus cannot easily be sold on as useable goods, rendering them largely useless to a thief. This theft protecting system is known as Hilti TPS, which uses bluetooth technology between the machine and the key card. Since each key card is unique to its machine, if the machine is stolen, the tool can not be started without its key card. SEE ALSO EXTERNAL LINKS
