Hikari (光) is Utada Hikaru 's 11th single also the 3rd single in Deep River Album and the release date was March 20 , 2002 . It is the main theme song for the Japanese release of the Square Soft (Now Square Enix ) and Disney Interactive video game Kingdom Hearts . It hit # 1 on Oricon charts and sold 598,000 copies. Hikari's English version was Simple And Clean . Even though it shares the same tune and backround music, the words are entirely different. "Hikari" should not be confused with "Simple and Clean". It is important to note that this single gave Hikaru a lot of exposure worldwide because it was used for the top-seller game Kingdom Hearts , many foreign fans claim that this was their first Japanese song heard.
