There are 525 Hewitts in total: 178 in England , 137 in Wales and 211 in Ireland . ( Black Mountain is counted in both England and Wales.) Scotland is not included because it has so many mountains; instead there are separate lists called Munro s, Corbett s, Donalds , and Grahams . However, a survey has recently been completed which documents all the mountains of 'Hewitt status' in Scotland. The list is a very long one, and comprises the 'Murdos' (3000ft +), the 'Corbett Tops' (2500-3000ft) and the 'Graham Tops' (2000-2500ft). Some Hillwalkers attempt to climb all the Hewitts; this is a form of Peak Bagging . SEE ALSO |
