In the
Science Fiction Television show ''
Stargate SG-1 '', the
Fictional character was a
Goa'uld on whom the fiction claims the
Heru-ur (Horus) of
Egyptian Mythology was based.
Heru-ur was the son of
Ra and
Hathor and inherited much of Ra's empire after his father was killed in the movie ''
Stargate ''. He was also a fairly strong
Goa'uld in his own right. He also commands one of the biggest Goa'uld fleets. Like his father his Jaffa used Horus helmets and his is a bitter enemy of
Apophis .
Heru-ur first appeared in the second season episode "
Thor's Chariot " in which he attacked the world Cimmeria. One year earlier
SG-1 visited the planet during which they were forced to destroy Thor's Hammer, an
Asgard weapon which protected the planet. Because of this the planet was easily conquered by the Goa'uld, who started to build pyramids as landing places for his
Ha'tak ships. Although SG-1 helped some rebels from the planet to fight against Heru-ur's forces, they were no match for them and captured by the
Jaffa . However they were able to contact the Asgard
Thor who appeared with his mothership and destroyed the Goa'uld forces and buildings. Heru-ur barely escaped through the Stargate.
Heru-ur again appeared in the episode "
Secrets " when he plans to steal Apophis' and Amonet's child from
Abydos . So he went there with his Jaffa but
Teal'c is able to kill one of his guards, takes his clothes and convinces Amonet that Heru-ur stole her child. He later returns with
Daniel Jackson to the gate where they, together with their teammates, fight against Heru-ur and his guards. Although Heru-ur possessed a personal shield he again is forced to flee by the
Ring Transporter on his ship above.
Heru-ur at last appeared in season four episode "
The Serpent's Venom ", when he planned to make an alliance with Apophis, despite them being former enemies. Because niether of the them trusted the other they met in a minefield in the Tobin system, and if anyone would attack, the mines would react to them. However the
Tok'ra heard about this meeting, and with the help of SG-1, planned on making Apophis believe that Heru-ur had attacked him during the meeting by reprogramming a mine. They were successful but then Apophis revealed a whole cloaked fleet and he easily destroyed Heru-ur's ship thus killing him. Afterwards Apophis takes over Heru-ur's forces, becoming stronger than ever.
Although Heru-ur doesn't appear since then it is mentioned in season four episode "
Double Jeopardy " that SG-1 once freed the world Juna from the occupation of Heru-ur. However this led to the world taken over by
Cronus .
