The third largest hub of AeroMexico , the airport handles around one hundred daily commercial flights, to destinations within Mexico and the United States.

The airport is also a military base, denominated BAM-24, handling Mexico Air Force's flights.

The facility is composed of one runway, taxiways, hangars, and a commercial terminal, which is being expanded to almost the double of what it is now. It is considered one of the most modern airports in Mexico, incluiding an up-to-date array of facilities for passenger convenievce.
