- 'Chimbley' is a word once used by Scots, a dialect word for 'chimney'. It is now found in many places where Scots settled in the New World, particularly Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where it is regarded as Pittsburghese .
- Note that on some editions, the track list printed on the actual disk is missing the song "The Chimbley Sweep" though the song is listed on the back of the CD jacket and in the liner notes.
- Colin Meloy, when in concert, begins "The Chimbley Sweep" with an extra verse.
- The lyrics given in the liner notes for the 3rd verse of "Los Angeles, I'm Yours" do not perfectly correspond with the song itself.
