Henry Wise ( 1653 - 1738 ) was an English Gardener and Landscape Architect apprenticed to George London at Brompton Nursery . The two later worked as partners on Hampton Court , Chelsea Hospital , Longleat , Chatsworth , Melbourne Hall , Wimpole Hall and Castle Howard , drawing inspiration from contemporaries in France and the Netherlands .
