According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 2.2 Km&2 (0.9 Mi&2 ). 2.2 km&2 (0.9 mi&2) of it is land and none of the area is covered with water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 2,334 people, 956 households, and 668 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 1,047.9/km&2 (2,706.5/mi&2). There were 1,038 housing units at an average density of 466.0/km&2 (1,203.7/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 81.41% White , 1.33% African American , 0.17% Native American , 12.43% Asian , 0.04% Pacific Islander , 2.01% from Other Races , and 2.61% from two or more races. 6.26% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 956 households out of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 55.6% were Married Couples living together, 11.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 30.1% were non-families. 27.4% of all households were made up of individuals and 9.9% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.44 and the average family size was 2.99. In the city the population was spread out with 26.6% under the age of 18, 5.4% from 18 to 24, 26.9% from 25 to 44, 25.8% from 45 to 64, and 15.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 41 years. For every 100 females there were 89.4 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 83.5 males. The median income for a household in the city was $66,250, and the median income for a family was $101,928. Males had a median income of $69,375 versus $41,316 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $52,153. 4.6% of the population and 3.0% of families were below the Poverty Line . 6.1% of those under the age of 18 and 4.0% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. EDUCATION Hedwig Village is served by the Spring Branch Independent School District . Spring Branch Middle School and Memorial High School are located in Hedwig Village. Students are zoned to Memorial Drive Elementary School in Piney Point Village , Spring Branch Middle, and Memorial High. The city is served by the Houston Community College System .
