The Harvard Salient has often been the subject of heated campus debate, often owing to the infamous "Back Page" feature in which a controversial subject of debate is treated with a satirical and, in the opinion of many ideological opponents, offensive tone. Past contributors include Claremont McKenna College Professor Charles Kesler , among other up-and-coming conservative intellectuals, many of whom have gone on to work for publications like William Buckley 's '' National Review ''. The current faculty advisors are William R. Kennan, Jr. Professor of Government Harvey C.
