Hao Haidong ('''郝海东''', May 9 , 1970 , in Qingdao ) is currently helping out at Chengdu Blades, the Chinese club recently purchased by Sheffield United Football Club in the Football League Championship . Although transferred to the Sheffield outfit in January 2005, he made little impact, suffering from injury, and worked mainly as a coach at the Academy. He played over 90 times, including the 2002 World Cup Finals for the Chinese National Team , and is the record goalscorer with 37 goals for his country. He was transferred from Bayi FC to Dalian Shide after the 1996 season, where he played and eventually became head coach before his transfer to England in January 2005 . Known as the "Chinese Alan Shearer", he has won many titles and honours with Dalian Shide, notably Jia "A" Championship, the Chinese Superleague, the Chinese Super Cup and the Chinese F.A. Cup. |
