President Henry Hayes , having been hand-picked by his predecessor
Jack O'Neill to succeed him. He is a close friend of O'Neill and
George Hammond . He has a penchant for quoting famous generals such as
George Washington ,
Douglas MacArthur and
George S. Patton . He is a resolute man who nevertheless operates the SGC with a sense of humour.

Stargate Command 's new chief medical officer, is his daughter, despite having a different surname. In the first few episodes of Season 9, there were innuendos and implications flying, and the audience was unsure what exactly the relationship was between Dr. Lam and Hank Landry, such as when Hank referred to the history between them, and when Carolyn said, "If you want to have lunch, I'll be there as ordered." Some may even have thought the possibility of a previous romantic relationship between them, about which they both had mixed feelings. Such questions however, were put to rest when Hank finally revealed, "I know. I'm your dad." in "
The Powers That Be ".
