Information About

Haim Saban

Haim Saban (born on March 26 , 1944 in Alexandria , Egypt ) is a Television Producer perhaps most notable for the adaptation of Masked Rider , VR Troopers and Big Bad Beetleborgs in the United States Of America . He was exiled from his homeland of Egypt because he is Jewish, but later found refuge in Israel. He is also a strong supporter of the United States Democratic Party , and, during the era of Soft Money , was one of the largest donors to the party. Most other soft-money donors have dropped off the list following the ban on soft money (see Campaign Finance Reform ), but Saban adapted to the new fundraising rules and is one of the top bundlers of legal campaign checks as well.

Saban's big breakthrough came in 1994 when he produced the children's television program, VR Troopers, based on the adaptation from some of the popular Japanese Metal Hero series. Following the success of this series, Saban produced yet another children's television program based on the adapation from one of the Kamen Rider series, Kamen Rider Black RX, which he re-introduced in the United States as Masked Rider. Unfortunately, unlike VR Troopers, this series didn't have much staying power due to lack of footage, terrible editing and the lack of content of such American actors replacing the original Japanese actors. Following the glorious ending of VR Troopers in 1996, Saban produced another television program, Big Bad Beetleborgs and Big Bad Beetleborgs Metallix based from the adaptation from 2 more popular Japanese Metal Hero series. In 1998, following the ending of the 2 series, Saban went on to produce the television series The Mystic Knights Of Tir Na Long which he regarded as an American tokusatsu rather than he adapting from any Japanese tokusatsu. Then in 1999, Saban thought of adapting again from Toei's currently ongoing Super Sentai series. However, Toei abolished his license of further basing his television programs from the footage of their very owned trademark and trade named Super Sentai series.

And with that, Saban went on to work with the musical soundtracks for cartoons like '' The Mysterious Cities Of Gold '', '' Inspector Gadget '', '' The Get Along Gang '', '' Rainbow Brite '', '' Masters Of The Universe '', '' M.A.S.K '', '' The Real Ghostbusters ''.

In August of 2003, Saban's Saban Capital Group , which is purely an investment company holds stakes in media owners but doesn't publish or broadcast any television programs) - through its subsidiary - acquired 36 percent of the share capital of ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG . Since then, Saban is currently holding position as chairman of the corporation. ProSiebenSat.1 Media AG is Germany's largest television corporation comprising 4 free TV stations and many smaller media sales, production, merchandising etc. companies.

Since May 2005 , Saban has been a contributing blogger at The Huffington Post .
