GEOGRAPHY Hailey is located at 43°30'54" North, 114°18'23" West (43.514937, -114.306251). A TerraServer Aerial Photo from 8/9/1992 According to the United States Census Bureau , the city has a total area of 8.2 Km&2 (3.2 Mi&2 ). 8.2 km&2 (3.2 mi&2) of it is land and none of it is covered by water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 6,200 people, 2,389 households, and 1,603 families residing in the city. The Population Density was 757.5/km&2 (1,959.3/mi&2). There were 2,557 housing units at an average density of 312.4/km&2 (808.1/mi&2). The racial makeup of the city was 89.68% White , 0.26% African American , 0.35% Native American , 1.08% Asian , 0.05% Pacific Islander , 7.02% from Other Races , and 1.56% from two or more races. 11.95% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 2,389 households out of which 42.6% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 51.5% were Married Couples living together, 10.2% had a female householder with no husband present, and 32.9% were non-families. 23.7% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.2% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 3.09. In the city the population was spread out with 29.7% under the age of 18, 6.7% from 18 to 24, 37.4% from 25 to 44, 20.9% from 45 to 64, and 5.3% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 99.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 96.9 males. The median income for a household in the city was $51,347, and the median income for a family was $56,379. Males had a median income of $37,750 versus $29,025 for females. The Per Capita Income for the city was $21,255. 6.1% of the population and 4.6% of families were below the Poverty Line . 7.3% of those under the age of 18 and 4.2% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line.
