Hadfield




Hadfield is a small town in High Peak , Derbyshire , England . It is just on the west side of the Peak District , near Glossop , and within the sphere of influence of Greater Manchester .

The town has a rail station on the electrified line to Manchester Piccadilly , and is just off the A628 Road , linking Manchester with Barnsley and Sheffield . The railway, known as the Woodhead Line , used to run through to Sheffield via the Woodhead Tunnel but passenger services were withdrawn in the late 1960's. Freight trains ran until 1981, after which Hadfield became the terminus of the line.

Hadfield is popular with Walkers especially during the summer months and the Longdendale Trail which runs along the Longdendale Valley to Woodhead Tunnel starts in Hadfield and runs along the trackbed of the former Woodhead line.

The Television Series '' The League Of Gentlemen '' was filmed in Hadfield.
