From 1952 to 1962, he was a member of the Legislative Assembly Of New Brunswick and from 1958 to 1960 he was the Attorney General. In 1962 , he was elected to the Canadian House Of Commons as a Progressive Conservative candidate for the New Brunswick riding of Royal . He was re-elected in 1963 , 1965 , 1968 , 1972 , and 1974 .
