Gary Edward Daniels (b. May 9, 1963) is a British born Kickboxer , Martial Artist , and Martial Arts Actor . Daniels appears mostly in action-oriented B-movie s which can be viewed as hilarious and entertaining when not taken seriously. His contemporaries in this field include such talents as Mark Dacascos , Jean Claude Van Damme , Billy Blanks , Steven Seagal , Chuck Norris , and David Carradine .

Gary Daniels has been in over 50 movies since his start in a small role on the 80's television show Miami Vice .


EARLY LIFE

Gary Daniels was born in Surrey, England . He was a fan of legendary martial artist actor and philospher Bruce Lee . Emulating his idol, he studied the martial arts, particularly Karate (a form of which Lee did not practice, but did study). After his studies were complete, Daniels entered the pro kickboxing circuit.


FIGHTING CAREER

Daniels initially made his mark as a pro fighter in Florida, competing in various kickboxing and karate tournaments. In March, 1980, Daniels defeated Sherman "Big Train" Bergman in Coconut Grove, Florida in Miami-Dade County, at the Sunshine State Tournament. Daniels went on to win the Professional Karate Association Light Heavyweight Kickboxing Championship. He retired undefeated from the sport with a record of 22-0, including 21 knockout victories.


FILM CAREER

Daniels began his film career in the Philippines , appearing in many low budget films. His first starring film role was the David Huey -directed Capital Punishment , in 1991. By 1996 Daniels had begun working on projects as a producer, starting with the Joseph Merhi -directed Rage . Throughout his career he has served as a fight coordinator for films he was in. His latest film is the Steven Seagal project Submerged , directed by Anthony Hickox .
