Garfield County is a County located in the State of Montana . As of 2000 , the population is 1,279. Its County Seat is Jordan 6 . GEOGRAPHY According to the U.S. Census Bureau , the county has a total area of 12,555 Km&2 (4,848 Mi&2 ). 12,090 km&2 (4,668 mi&2) of it is land and 465 km&2 (179 mi&2) of it is water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census 2 of 2000, there were 1,279 people, 532 households, and 366 families residing in the county. The Population Density was 0/km&2 (0/mi&2). There were 961 housing units at an average density of 0/km&2 (0/mi&2). The racial makeup of the county was 99.14% White , 0.08% Black or African American , 0.39% Native American , 0.08% Asian , 0.08% Pacific Islander , 0.00% from Other Races , and 0.23% from two or more races. 0.39% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 532 households out of which 28.80% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 60.30% were Married Couples living together, 4.50% had a female householder with no husband present, and 31.20% were non-families. 28.20% of all households were made up of individuals and 13.50% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.38 and the average family size was 2.93. In the county the population was spread out with 24.50% under the age of 18, 7.10% from 18 to 24, 23.30% from 25 to 44, 25.80% from 45 to 64, and 19.30% who were 65 years of age or older.
