Events to note in Gamagori are the Gamagori Firework Festival on the last Sunday of July and the Mia Festival which is famous for large shrines being carried through the sea. There are a number is smaller towns within Gamagori, stays when he comes to the area. The gardens of the hotel and other surrounding areas are popular tourist spots in early summer once the azalea have bloomed. Gamagori is also surrounded by a "skyline", a road which takes people up into the mountains surrounding the city and where they can enjoy panaoramic views of Gamagori.
Gamagori is situated on the coast and within the bay of Mikawa. There are many industries in the area, Denso, Yamahachi Dental, Nidek among others, and there is also a large fishing community.
