Information About

Galveston Seawall

The Galveston Seawall, constructed in 1902 , is a Seawall that was built after the Galveston Hurricane Of 1900 for protection from future Hurricane s. The Seawall has never been overtopped by a Storm Surge from hurricanes but waves from the storms have caused considerable damage to buildings that line Seawall Boulevard. Texas F.M. 3005 or Seawall Boulevard runs along the Seawall.

The seawall is presently 10 miles long. It is approximately 17 feet high, and 16 feet thick at its base.
