Froot Loops is a brand of Breakfast Cereal produced in Australia , Canada , New Zealand , the United States , and several European countries by Kellogg's . The cereal pieces come in a variety of bright colors, but all have the same flavoring. Other varieties of the cereal sold by Kellogg's include Froot Loops 1/3 Less Sugar, and '''Marshmallow Froot Loops'''. TOUCAN SAM The cereal's Mascot is Toucan Sam, a blue Cartoon Toucan with a striped beak. Although his beak originally had two pink stripes, during the 1970s it became a tradition that each stripe on his beak represented one of the flavors of the pieces in the cereal. ( Red = strawberry, Yellow = lemon, Orange = orange) The additions of new flavors have made this color scheme no longer accurate. In the cartoon advertisments for Froot Loops, the voice acting for Toucan Sam was originally done by famed Canadian voice actor Maurice LaMarche . LaMarche was also responsible for Chief Quimby of the Inspector Gadget cartoon series, the voice of Brain from Pinky And The Brain , and numerous other characters. Biologically speaking, Toucan Sam is a Keel-billed Toucan , also known as Ramphastos sulfuratus. Since 1994, Toucan Sam has been joined onscreen by three nephews, obviously inspired by Donald Duck's Nephews . OTHER PRODUCTS A similar Froot Loops cereal was manufactured starting in 1998 called '''Marshmallow-Blasted Froot Loops'''. This cereal was basically Froot Loops with marshmallows added. New marshmallows were introduced usually every year. It started out with Toucan Sam marshmallows, followed by frogs, then number 2's, then mummies, and finally sharks and piranhas. The commercials followed a story of Toucan Sam traveling through a marshmallow temple. The cereal discontinued in 2005 . This version of Froot Loops was not available in Australia to comply with local dietary requirements for products marketed to children. Besides the Breakfast Cereal , there are other products currently available in the North America n retail market:
