Freedom Fighters is the name of a minor DC Comics Comic Book Superhero team made up of characters acquired from the defunct company, Quality Comics , and the short-lived comic book series of the same name featuring those characters.

An earlier Freedom Fighters team had been assembled on December 7, 1941. Members were:

This group, however, failed in its attempt to stop the devastation at Pearl Harbor. Neon and Magno were killed.

The DC version of the characters were said to reside on the Parallel World of "Earth-X," where World War II never ended. The original Golden Age adventures of the individual characters, which were contradicted by the new stories, were said to take place on "Earth-Quality", although this Earth never actually appeared or was even referenced in a published story.

Since the Crisis On Infinite Earths , the Freedom Fighters have been based in the main DC Universe , and were part of the All-Star Squadron .

After war times, the team surfaced again, years later, with the rise of a new age of heroes. The Justice Society , Blackhawks and Freedom Fighters were captured by the alien Appellax creatures and placed in concentration camps. They were freed by the new Justice League Of America .

A modern version of the team has appeared as an auxiliary of the new JSA . This team consisted of:

The Human Bomb, Black Condor and Phantom Lady were killed by the Society in '' Infinite Crisis '' #1. Damage was critically injured, Iron Munro was not there for some reason, and the Ray was captured by the Psycho-Pirate and told that Luthor wanted him alive.

DC has announced a new Uncle Sam and the Freedom Fighters series to premier in July or August 2006, which will continue from ''Crisis Aftermath: The Battle for Bludhaven''. How this connects to their deaths is unknown. So far, the alleged roster for this new team will be a new Phantom Lady, a new Ray, a new Human Bomb, and the fourth Firebrand as well as others, as seen from previews.
