Franklin College is a liberal arts college in Franklin, Indiana . It was founded in 1834 and was the first college in Indiana to admit women (1842). Franklin's athletic teams are known as the Grizzlies and participate in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference .

Famous attendees include Indiana governor Roger D. Branigin , actress Marjorie Main , and film director Robert Wise .

Franklin College is also the name of an American college in Lugano , Switzerland .
