Information About

Foreign Objects (band)

Their first ep "The Undiscovered Numbers & Colors" had five tracks and would be their only release up until 2004. In 2004, Jess and Deron finally got around to finishing their sophomore album, "Universal Culture Shock". However, many of the demos from UCS had been circulating around the internet for years before the official release. The nine year difference between the two albums is responsible for the vastly improved Death Metal Style Vocals of UCS to the thinner, under-developed vocals of TUNAC. One of the other more prominent differences between the two albums are the multitude of guitar solos that are found on UCS. Guitarist James Murphy is responsible for all of the solos on UCS. Also, even would-be fans who are turned off by the metal screaming element of the band may enjoy the many instrumental tracks on UCS (Universal Culture Shock, They Come in Peace, Puzzled, Cosmic Consciousness, and Victory Over Neptune) as well as the instrumental piano track, Delve, on TUNAC. The band fell apart as they never really had a full time bassist. The two founding members, Jess and Deron, went on to form CKY with Chad I. Ginsburg .

Despite the contrast between them, both albums remain remarkable displays of creativity and musicianship which is evident as soon as you realize how hard it is to categorize this band. It is too melodic to really be considered death metal, but too heavy to properly fit under the category of rock.
