Football World Cup 1990 (qualification Concacaf)

The qualification was composed of three Rounds. Canada, Honduras, El Salvador, USA and Mexico, the five best ranked teams according to FIFA, entered the qualification directly on the Second Round. The other 10 teams were paired 2-by-2 and played knockout matches home-and-away, winners advancing to the Second Round.

In the Second Round, the five winners of the First Round joined the five best ranked teams and were again paired 2-by-2, playing more knock-out matches home-and-away. The winners would advance to the Final Round.

In the Final Round, the five winners of the Second Round were put in a single group, where they would play against each other home-and-away. The two teams with most points would qualify to the World Cup.
