Floris Jan Bovelander (born on January 19 , 1966 in Haarlem ) is a former Field Hockey player from The Netherlands , who was a member of the Dutch national squad that won the golden medal at the 1996 Summer Olympics in Atlanta . Six years earlier, at the Hockey World Cup in Lahore where he scored nine times, the defender won the world title with the Holland side at the expense of host nation Pakistan .

Bovelander played 241 international matches for The Netherlands, scored a total numer of 215 goals and participated in three Olympics. He made his debut on October 2 1985 in a friendly match against New Zealand . He was famous for his devastating Penalty Corner s, and was Nickname d ''Flop'', ''Floppie'' and ''Boem Boem Bovelander''. Bovelander retired after the Atlanta Games. All throughout his career he played for the Dutch club Bloemendaal, with whom he won the Dutch title six times.
