Information AboutFleet Admiral Of The Russian Federation |
See " Fleet Admiral " for other nations which use this rank Fleet Admiral of the Russian Federation (''Адмирал Флота Российской Федерации'', Admiral Flota Rossiyskoy Federatsii) is a theoretical (hypothetical) senior-most Military Rank of the modern Russian Navy that is considered the highest Russian Naval Position . It is the equivalent to a Fleet Admiral (Five Star Admiral ) in other navies of the world. Fleet Admiral of the Russian Federation is not an active military rank, and only exists in theory to be appointed if Russia ever became involved in a major war or national emergency. The rank is mentioned in United States Navy sources as a rank which would be required as an equivalent to a "Five Star Admiral" in other countries, yet some Russian sources actually state that the rank does not exist. If appointed, the rank of Fleet Admiral of the Russian Federation would be considered a successor to the Soviet Union rank of Admiral Of The Fleet Of The Soviet Union , which was equivalent to the Army rank of Marshal Of The Soviet Union . At present, all Russian Fleet Admirals are considered the equivalent to four star Admirals in other nations. Current naval regulations of the Russian Federation state that promotion above Fleet Admiral would be honorary and that no higher rank exists. If a Russian Fleet Admiral were promoted in peacetime, in all likelihood the officer in question would become a Marshal Of The Russian Federation . The insignia for Fleet Admiral of the Russian Federation is based upon the previous Admiral of the Fleet of the Soviet Union with a Russian Federation crest replacing the Communist Hammer And Sickle .
