Flatbush Avenue, also called the '''Atlantic Terminal''', is the westernmost stop on the Long Island Rail Road's Atlantic Avenue Branch . It is located at Flatbush Avenue and Atlantic Avenue in Brooklyn , New York . The station is currently the main terminal for the Far Rockaway , Hempstead , and on weekdays, West Hempstead branches. This station serves Downtown Brooklyn and, via a Subway connection, Lower Manhattan.

Flastbush Avenue is located in the City Terminal Zone, and in turn is included in the CityTicket program. It is located in the LIRR's Zone 1.


CONNECTIONS AND NEARBY ATTRACTIONS

Flatbush Avenue station is located nearby several Subway lines. The Atlantic Avenue IRT , Atlantic Avenue BMT , Atlantic Avenue-Pacific Street BMT are located inside the same station, while the Fulton Street IND station is located three blocks northeast.

Flatbush Avenue is in close proximity to the Brooklyn Academy Of Music and the recently-constructed Atlantic Terminal Mall .


TRACKS AND PLATFORMS

The Flatbush Avenue station has six tracks and three platforms.

  • Tracks 1 and 2 each hold ten cars, though the first two cars are not opened due to a large gap between the train and the platform.

  • Tracks 3 and 4 hold eight cars each. These are usually the only two tracks used on weekends, with Hempstead trains on Track 3 and Far Rockaway trains on Track 4. BROOK Tower is at the east end of this platform.

  • Track 5 holds six cars.

  • Track 6 can hold six cars, but only four cars can platform. The west end of this platform is directly adjacent to the uptown Subway Platform .



FUTURE DEVELOPMENTS


As part of the Lower Manhattan-Jamaica/JFK Transportation Project, Flatbush Avenue station would undergo several large changes. Instead of being a terminal station, it would become a through station for trains terminating at a proposed station in lower Manhattan.
