Tactical Officer Lieutenant of Battlestar Galactica, He is known for his friendly, encouraging, trusting nature.
In the episode "Water," Gaeta is given the task of helping
Gaius Baltar create a Cylon detector. Later, Gaeta discovered the purpose and use of
Cylon transponders which allowed a Galactica ship to destroy a Cylon
Basestar that was guarding the planet Kobol. In the short interval after
Commander Adama was shot and Colonel Tigh commanded ''Galactica'', Gaeta was responsible for failing to transmit updated jump co-ordinates to the rest of the fleet, resulting in ''Galactica'' being temporarily seperated from the fleet.
In the second season finale, Gaeta realized that
Col. Tigh and
Lt. Dualla had switched out one box of votes in the Presidental Election, in essence rigging the vote to re-elect
Laura Roslin . After President Baltar took office, Gaeta took a position as an aide to the President, and was the person who informed him of the arrival of the Cylon Fleet.
