Favourably compared by some to Romário , Fabrizio Miccoli is a diminutive forward who possesses many of the Brazilian legend's traits, particularly an ability to find space and wriggle free of defenders. He was born in Nardò , Italy on June 27th, 1979.


NATIONAL TEAM

He made his Azzurri debut against Portugal in February 2003, creating the only goal for Bernardo Corradi . Subsequently featured in UEFA EURO 2004â„¢ qualifying and was recalled to play in a friendly against Finland in November 2004, scoring in a 1-0 win.


CLUB

Miccoli started out at Casarano Calcio , scoring eight times over the course of two seasons before joining Ternana Calcio in 1998. Stepping up a division to Serie B did not mean a reduction in goals for Miccoli, who struck nine, seven and 15 in each of his three seasons at the club.


2002

Signed by Juventus FC in the summer of 2002, he was immediately loaned to AC Perugia , where he scored nine goals in 34 games in his first season in Serie A. In September 2003 he had an emergency operation for acute appendicitis, but recovered to play in 25 Serie A games for Juventus , scoring eight goals.


2006€6

Loaned to ACF Fiorentina , he scored 12 league goals in 35 appearances as they avoided relegation. He was then sent to Portuguese champions SL Benfica for the 2005/06 season.
