In Computing , FICON (Fiber Connectivity) is an input and output Protocol used in IBM Mainframe Computer s and peripheral devices such as storage arrays and tape drives. It takes the ESCON channel protocol, and maps it onto a Fibre Channel transport. FICON supports Full-duplex data rates of 200 and 400 MB/sec and distances of up to 100 kilometers.
