Sometimes, "eurotrash" can describe a cheap and dirty type of long term traveller, usually from Europe, who does not work. They are most likely sustained by their government's social safety net, their families, or both. In the last decade, numbers have exploded across south america and asia. Usually, these travellers are from Europe. During the pre-internet era, these types were generally "live with parents" or "permanent student" types in Europe. Because taxes and prices in Europe are high while jobs were difficult to find, this was common practice and is still common today. Many people stayed at school until age thirty and live with parents their entire lives. The internet popularized international travel and many of these types found it better to live in poorer countries, where their government checks and family support had more purchasing power. |
