Englewood Cliffs is a Borough located in Bergen County , New Jersey . As of the United States 2000 Census , the borough had a total population of 5,322. The borough houses the world headquarters of CNBC and the American headquarters of Unilever . Englewood Cliffs was formed in March 1895 from portions of Englewood Township and Palisades Township . (see "History of Bergen County" Vol. 1, p. 355-356). GEOGRAPHY Englewood Cliffs is located at 40°52'57" North, 73°57'9" West (40.882622, -73.952498). According to the United States Census Bureau , the borough has a total area of 8.8 Km&2 (3.4 Mi&2 ). 5.4 km&2 (2.1 mi&2) of it is land and 3.3 km&2 (1.3 mi&2) of it is water. The total area is 38.17% water. DEMOGRAPHICS As of the Census of 2000, there were 5,322 people, 1,818 households, and 1,559 families residing in the borough. The Population Density was 983.2/km&2 (2,544.3/mi&2). There were 1,889 housing units at an average density of 349.0/km&2 (903.1/mi&2). The racial makeup of the borough was 66.84% White , 1.37% African American , 0.04% Native American , 29.69% Asian , 0.00% Pacific Islander , 0.71% from Other Races , and 1.35% from two or more races. 4.89% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race. There were 1,818 households out of which 31.4% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 76.0% were Married Couples living together, 7.0% had a female householder with no husband present, and 14.2% were non-families. 12.5% of all households were made up of individuals and 8.3% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.90 and the average family size was 3.16. In the borough the population was spread out with 20.7% under the age of 18, 5.7% from 18 to 24, 23.9% from 25 to 44, 27.7% from 45 to 64, and 22.0% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 45 years. For every 100 females there were 89.1 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 84.8 males. The median income for a household in the borough was $106,478, and the median income for a family was $113,187. Males had a median income of $79,501 versus $42,019 for females. The Per Capita Income for the borough was $57,399. 2.6% of the population and 1.4% of families were below the Poverty Line . 1.9% of those under the age of 18 and 5.3% of those 65 and older were living below the poverty line. GOVERNMENT Local government Englewod Cliff's government consists of a Mayor and a six-member Borough Council. The Mayor serves a four-year term of office and is elected directly by the voters. The Council is elected on a partisan basis to serve three-year terms on a staggered basis, with two seats coming up for election each year. Federal, state and county representation Englewood Cliffs is in the Ninth Congressional District and is part of New Jersey's 37th Legislative District. EDUCATION The Englewood Cliffs Public Schools serve children in Kindergarten through eighth grade. Schools in the district (with 2004-05 enrollment data from the New Jersey Department Of Education 's 2004-05 School Report Cards) are the North Cliff School with 143 students in grades K-2 and the Upper School with 294 students in grades 3-8. For high school, students attend Dwight Morrow High School in Englewood , as part of a sending / receiving relationship with the Englewood Public School District . SOURCES
